Heritage Walking Tours 2018
Our first tour was in March, the sun shone and it was freezing cold! Our tour in August poured down for part of the tour but it didn't deter our hardy walkers, we carried on an was rewarded with dry weather for the remainder of the tour. The September tour was cancelled as the weather forecast was a Yellow warning of storms, thunder and lightening....well, the forecasters got it wrong and we had a beautiful sunny day...our routes took us from the newer sections of the cemetery to the old sections and an area first used when the cemetery opened in 1858. We were lucky enough to be able to peep inside the now closed Mortuary Chapel and visited the graves of local war heroes, including a Victoria Cross holders grave, local industrialists, sporting personalities, the first grave in the cemetery, and to the final resting place of the hundreds of people exhumed from the now long gone Parish Church graveyard. We have no more tours planned for this year, we will resume with more in 2019.

See you again in 2019!
